ABOUT
The Shooshan Company is a privately owned investor and full service developer, leading innovative real estate projects built on integrity and community commitment. We pride ourselves in being the local real estate developer of choice in Arlington, Virginia.
After a very successful career working for the Oliver Carr Company and Cadillac Fairview, in 1986 at the age of 33 John Shooshan decided to start the Shooshan Company in order to focus on real estate development in the Washington Metro Area. Mentored by Oliver Carr and Jim Clark (of Clark Construction), John developed his first high-end office building in the Ballston submarket of the Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor in 1989 (Quincy Street Station). Due to the emergence of Metro’s Orange Line, John believed this area would ultimately be an ideal destination with its proximity to Washington, DC while providing a cost effective alternative to downtown, but as a true mixed-use, transit-oriented community.
Today the Shooshan Company (TSC) is led by John and his two children, Kelly and Kevin, both of whom attended Georgetown University and earned real estate experience at other firms before joining the family business. Brian Scull, Director of Commercial Development, has been with the company since 1998. A former architect, Brian has led all office development since joining the company, including two (2) of the most secure GSA headquarters locations in the Metropolitan area for the Office of Naval Research and DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). Kelly Shooshan led the company into its current residential activities with a significant multifamily pipeline of almost 1,000 units, enabling the company to evolve into a true mixed-use developer. This activity began in 2005 with The Residences at Liberty Center condominiums and Liberty Tower apartments, located at the company’s Liberty Center North development. Kevin Shooshan leads the company’s leasing and marketing efforts, focusing on all office and retail space in the TSC portfolio and through his leadership the company’s entire commercial development portfolio is currently 99% leased.
The Shooshan Company has now planned, developed and invested in over 4,000,000 square feet of mixed-use space in Arlington, including some of the market’s most prominent office buildings, high end residential high-rise buildings and most notable retail locations in Northern Virginia.
Please see the Portfolio tab for more details on various TSC developments. .
