Arlington developer and community leader John Shooshan has been honored as “Outstanding Philanthropist” for 2013 by the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
By most accounts, the Washington office market is sagging — vacancy is up, leasing is slow and when there is a government agency or law firm that is ready to move, it is often for less space than they occupied before.
The Arlington County board has unanimously backed the redevelopment of a Ballston gateway site with a pair of new buildings, one office and one residential.
Marymount University, with developer The Shooshan Co., will replace the 50-year-old "Blue Goose" office building at 1000 N. Glebe Road with a nine-story, 165,204-square-foot office building and a 15-story, 267-unit apartment building. The project will include 3,000 square feet of retail and a 10,600-square-foot public plaza.
